Every.org Integration: 1.2M Nonprofits at Your Fingertips
How GiveCheck integrates with Every.org to give founders access to 1.2 million verified nonprofits and a seamless donation pipeline.
When we built GiveCheck, we faced a fundamental question: should we build our own donation infrastructure, or partner with someone who's already solved the problem? The answer was obvious. Every.org has built the best nonprofit donation platform on the internet, and their API makes it possible for GiveCheck to offer founders access to 1.2 million verified 501(c)(3) organizations without reinventing the wheel.
What Is Every.org?
Every.org is a nonprofit platform that makes it easy to donate to any US 501(c)(3) organization. They handle payment processing, tax receipts, and nonprofit verification. Think of them as the Stripe of charitable giving — a clean, developer-friendly infrastructure layer that handles the complexity of nonprofit donations.
Their database includes over 1.2 million verified nonprofits, from global organizations like the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders to local animal shelters and community food banks. If it's a registered 501(c)(3), it's probably on Every.org.
How the Integration Works
Here's the donation pipeline from a GiveCheck member's perspective:
- Search and select: Within your GiveCheck dashboard, you search for nonprofits using Every.org's API. You can search by name, cause area, location, or EIN (Employer Identification Number).
- Set up recurring donation: You choose your monthly donation amount and recipient(s). You can split your donation across multiple nonprofits or direct it all to one.
- Payment processing: The donation is processed through Every.org's payment infrastructure. You can pay via credit card, bank transfer, or even cryptocurrency. Every.org handles the money movement and compliance.
- Tax receipt: Every.org issues a tax-deductible receipt for each donation. Since Every.org is itself a 501(c)(3) that acts as a fiscal sponsor, your donation is fully tax-deductible regardless of which underlying nonprofit you choose.
- Verification: GiveCheck's API queries Every.org to confirm the donation amount, date, and recipient. This data feeds into your MRG calculation.
Bucket Funds: Curated Giving Made Easy
Not every founder wants to research individual nonprofits. That's why GiveCheck offers bucket funds — curated bundles of nonprofits organized by theme. Examples include:
- Open Source Fund: Supporting organizations that maintain critical open-source infrastructure.
- Climate Action Fund: A diversified portfolio of climate and environmental nonprofits.
- Education Access Fund: Organizations focused on education equity and access globally.
- Global Health Fund: High-impact health organizations recommended by evidence-based evaluators.
When you donate to a bucket fund, your contribution is distributed across all nonprofits in the fund according to a preset allocation. It's the index fund approach to giving: diversified, low-effort, and effective.
Why Every.org and Not Direct Donations?
There are several reasons we route donations through Every.org rather than directly to nonprofits:
- Verification: Every.org's API allows us to confirm donations programmatically. Direct donations to individual nonprofits would require manual verification — defeating the purpose of an automated system.
- Tax compliance: Every.org handles tax receipt generation and compliance. This removes a significant administrative burden from both GiveCheck and the donor.
- Nonprofit coverage: With 1.2 million nonprofits in their database, Every.org covers essentially every registered charity in the US. No single integration point gives founders more choice.
- Payment flexibility: Every.org supports multiple payment methods and handles the complexity of disbursing funds to nonprofits of all sizes and technical capabilities.
Data Privacy
GiveCheck receives only the data needed for verification from Every.org: donation amounts, dates, and recipient nonprofit IDs. We do not store payment method details, and we do not have access to your Every.org account credentials. The integration uses API tokens with read-only scope, similar to our Stripe integration.
For founders who already donate through Every.org independently, GiveCheck can recognize those existing donations in your MRG calculation — no need to change your giving setup. Just authorize the API connection, and your existing giving history feeds into your verified percentage.
